Through the years, ministry partners around the world have asked Josh for a film version of his testimony. In 2011, this request became a reality with the creation and production of Undaunted: The Early Life of Josh McDowell. Available in both a 68-minute version and a 42-minute version, Undaunted has the potential to reach more people for Christ than any other publication, or event in the history of Josh McDowell Ministry.
The themes portrayed in the film — severe family dysfunction, an alcoholic father who physically abused his wife, child sexual abuse by a family farm worker and the resulting skepticism toward faith in God—are themes that transcend geographic, cultural and generational lines. Initial feedback from the early showings has been overwhelmingly positive. To date, the film has been shown nearly 25 times in domestic and international settings. Work is underway to produce a small group study guide that will address the topics raised by the film, and Tyndale Publishers will release an Undaunted biography in the Fall of 2012, written by Cristóbal Krusen, the film’s director.
