Mrs. Clark’s 7th Grade Bible Class Discusses:

The Cosmic Cop

The Killjoy Myth

“‘The Killjoy Myth’ claims that God steals the joy out of a Christian life.

“This is false. God IS our joy.

“Satan is the one who steals our joy. 1 Peter 5:8 states that he is a roaring lion trying to find someone to devour.

“In other words, Satan is searching for someone who he can suck the joy out of, to pull them away from God. This is what he tries to do to Job in Job 2:1-8. Satan cast physical affliction upon Job because he was blameless and upright in God’s sight. Again, in Zechariah 3:1, Satan strikes again. But this time, against Joshua.

“So, as you can see, the killjoy myth is not true.

“God is not stealing our joy, but he IS our joy.

“Satan is the lion searching for a soul he can destroy.”

God is the source of our joy.

Are we looking for joy in Him, or somewhere else?
