With deep sadness, the Josh McDowell Ministry today announced the accidental death of Jeffrey Lauer, Vice President of Global Publishing on December 28, 2018 in Cancun, Mexico. Jeff went home to Jesus while on vacation with family. His wife of 39 years, Jennifer reported that he was pulled underwater by a strong undertow while playing with his grandchildren.
Jennifer said, “Although we are in shock and numb our confidence in Jeff’s salvation gives us peace and strength. Jeff was doing what he loves to do best which was creating memories and spending time with his family.”
Josh McDowell said, “Jeff Lauer was an overcomer – his was one of the greatest testimonies to faith in Christ that I have ever heard. Jeff used every talent that God gave him and multiplied them greatly. We remember him for his love for family, his service to the Lord and his kindness.”
Jeff spent his life serving others including his family, friends, neighbors, co-workers and his church in the name of Jesus. The past 20 years Jeff and Jennifer served in missions through Cru with the last 10 years at Josh McDowell Ministry, a Cru Ministry.
A private burial and graveside service was held outside of Baltimore, MD this week. Memorial funds are being established by the First Baptist Church in Wylie, Texas and by Josh McDowell Ministry in Plano, Texas (read more aquí).
