The most important thing about the Christmas story isn’t your mastery of those facts. At the center of Christmas is the birth of your Master. Think about it: The God who created heaven and earth-the God who created you-came to earth in the form of a human baby born to a peasant couple and named Jesus. God, who is Spirit, took on flesh just like yours. God, who isn’t confined to time and space, slipped into human history and forever changed our relationship with himself and our relationships with one another.

And God did all of that because he loves you and wants a relationship with you.

The greatest gift God ever gave you was himself-in the form of his Son. The greatest gift you can ever give him is yourself-so you can enjoy the relationship God created you for.

REFLECT: How are you going to give yourself to God in thanks for all that he has given you?

PRAY: Talk to him today about your desire to be a gift to him.
